What Halloween?

Yupp, no Halloween celebration for me. Well, as you can see, I have an accounting paper to read up and prepare for mid term exams coming this Wednesday. Urgh. I just can’t keep my cool knowing I have to be tested and evaluated for my knowledge. I mean, who can remember every single word in a 400-500 page book anyway?? I am especially not good with explaining theories and long essays.

image

Did I also mention I have quite the short attention span?? I think I started selfie-ing right about when I got to 10 pages of reading. And that is why I need more effort and time to study and make myself remember all these theories.

image

I would’ve had the whole afternoon going on and off from my books and notes to perhaps Youtube and FB back and forth, if it was not for Analyn’s invite to her flat just at the 12th floor. It was her birthday after all, so I had a good excuse to take a break from studying and catch up with some college mates that I haven’t seen since two weeks ago when we joined in the Diwali Dance. Aadi and Varsha was there too so it was good timing for me to catch up with the siblings.

When I got to Analyn’s place, I was surprised that I was greeted by a group of people, like 8 in total including the birthday girl. So I was wrong about it being just like 4 of us. But hey, I was already there, so had to sit down and join in the crowd.

image

Analyn’s apartment is the same size as my apartment except her unit has a balcony so that was a plus side for them. They also have a tv in the living room unlike in my unit, we just have a big ass dining table that we use as a kitchen counter. The birthday girl served me some rice with adobo chicken and chop suey. And the group just sat around and chit chat. Most of the people in the group were from Analyn’s class so I didn’t know anyone else there aside from Aadi, Varsha and Mariam the girl who was also part of the dance group.

image

We took this group photo after Aadi and Varsha left so too bad I didn’t manage to catch everyone. Actually I even only manage half my face cos I wanted to try and get the others in the photo too. Except for that one Indian guy who didn’t turn around on time.

image

With the lovely birthday girl, Analyn!

image

I stayed for only about an hour or so and left promptly when they were considering to take a nap, sleep and just relax before their next agenda to head to a Halloween party. That was enough socializing for me for the day. Back to locking myself up in the apartment with the accounting books and hopefully I get to retain as much information as I need for the exam. Definitely a challenge for a 32 year old whose been out of school for about 7 years now. But working the brain is good. Its all good…

The Tiny Book of tiny stories.

image

So I am a sucker for cute stuff right, and also of graphic novels, arts, comics and anything that I can indulge and be entertained with my eyes. So when I noticed this little cute book in the city library, my eyes naturally sent a signal to my brain and from my brain sent a signal to my hand muscles to reach out for the book. I mean, look at the cover! Such a genius marketing technique to use “yellow” color to attract and the tiny little bunny ears and cute stuff on the cover, how can I NOT want to pick it up and bring it home?

Now I borrowed this book perhaps about 2 or 3 weeks ago, but knowing that its a book filled with more art and graphics which I can feed my eyes with instead of using my brain cells to process all those words, I took it for granted and left it aside until I felt the need to divert myself from other things. Leisure reading, right. So when I finished reading the romance novel, and I figured I’d return that book, I thought for practical reasons, I should read that tiny book and get it over with so I can return the book together.

My oh my, what I found out about this book. Firstly, I didn’t realize it was part of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s (cute actor from 500 days of summer, duh!) project and his name was on the cover and I didn’t even notice that when I first reached out for the book! Secondly, well, in conclusion is more like it, this book is so emo!

image

Look at one of the pages here, it kind of reminds me of a scene from 500 days of summer,

This overwhelming desire to be close to you directly conflicts with my intense fear of people.” -page 10-11

#relatemuch

image

Then there’s another art work I think is generally oh-so-true,

Stranger than strangers are lovers estranged. – pg 34-35

It reminds me of a song by Tanya Chua 蔡健雅 where the title of the song is “Strangers” and in my mind I go “di ba??” (tagalog for “right??”)

image

image

Oh here’s another one that kind of made me chuckled, but sorry for the overly bright photo so you can’t see the image so clearly.

She had a great big heart but very little grace. Every time she fell in love she landed on her face. pg 86-87

Sounds like someone I know. Oh wait, was that me?

image

Here’s a super emo one. One I feel like I’m looking at the artwork and say, hey that little girl looks like me. And it says,

A n y w h e r e  b u t  h e r e .  .  .  – pg 100-101

Brings back memories of when I was a little girl maybe around the ages of 8 to 10 going through those emo stages where I felt like I hated who I was and wished I was someone else.

image

And this by far is the most emo one that I could relate to from the book,

When I die, let the dragonflies take me. -pg 110-111

Looking at that photo and you can’t help but say “aaawwwww…”

Of course, I don’t want dragonflies to take me when I die. Unless they’re the transport system that takes me to Heaven then sure!

So yes, this book is pretty emo, but it’s also pretty cool. Filled with a collection of quotes and artworks that I am presuming comes from around the world or at least those who are connected to the hitREcord.org project.

If you’re a fan of arts, in all forms and the likes, this would be a cool addition to your library (also perhaps cos Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s name is on it). So go buy the book, or if you’re a cheapskate like me who takes full advantage of the awesome library system here in the city, go borrow it!

When I Fall in Love – Susan May Warren

No, not the song, but the book by Susan May Warren.

I know its a cheesy title, but I am secretly a hopeless romantic. So when I was browsing around the city library the other day for a novel for leisure reading, I chanced upon this title and thought, “wow, people still used very cheesy titles nowadays?” It wasn’t until I read the back of the book cover that I realized it was a romance novel but “faith-based” written by a woman who spent 8 years as a missionary in Russia. And I guess at that point, I was sold.

image

*why the look? Well, my face doesn’t really agree with the title and the cover photo of course. I think I’d be embarrassed to be caught reading this book.

image

I was curious to see how a Christian author would write a romantic novel and so it was enough for me to go ahead and borrow that book. And after finishing the book, I must say it’s just the kind of story that I feel I could relate to. (Not the falling in love part obviously) I mean, faith based wise. It’s nice how I can relate to the character’s thoughts and how they would talk to God in their minds. It was refreshing and a pleasant read which I was quite surprised myself. Although, I had a bit of difficulty at the beginning of the book when the characters were being identified in my brain and because the book also talks about many other side characters aside from the main ones, I felt a bit overwhelmed by so many things going on but after a while I think I kinda got the hang of it.

There were parts that was quite predictable for me, and I actually knew what was going to happen in just a few paragraphs down the road, but I mean, what stories nowadays or even movies that we can’t predict whats going to happen right? So I let that point slide. I did like the idea of the culinary experience vacation and how the novel talked a lot about food and didn’t shy away from one night stands too. It tried to be as realistic as can be and yet at some points, there was a lot of “fantasy” and “fiction” added in as well. Like, seriously, a guy proposing right after 3 weeks of meeting the girl? (sorry for the spoiler) And I personally didn’t agree with the decision the character made, even if in the book, she heard God telling her to give her heart to the guy, I mean, I don’t know, if it was me, I probably wouldn’t make that decision. 😛

Regardless, I would still want to read more books from this author. I really did enjoyed it. It wasn’t comedy, I mean, not like what I just read 2 nights ago, by Kunal Nayyar but as I went deeper into the pages, I was eager to know how the book would end. So that must be a good thing seeing how I’m not much of a reader right?

For a 370 page novel, I spent my whole evening and last night from 7pm all the way to 1am to finish the rest of the chapters which was less than half the book with what I started. Not bad really, and I realized reading does takes a lot of hours! That’s a lot of work compared to watching a 3 hour movie.

But hooray to self! I have now documented that I have successfully finished reading at least two books this year! Maybe I could make this a habit and challenge myself to 1 book a month starting next year and have 12 books completed in a year. #overachievermuch 🙄

Getting to know the “real” Raj Koothrappali. #thebigbangtheory

image

Achievement Unlocked! Reading completed!!! “Yes, my accent is Real” by Kunal Nayyar, actor from Big Bang Theory tv series. I always wondered if the accent he has in the show was real, and this book made me understand that it is very likely that it was indeed his natural speaking accent!

image

I am not much of a reader/bookworm as I’d like to be, and because Visuals and moving things on screens are always more interesting and helps me remember things better, I hardly get motivated or have enough discipline to finish reading a book or novel.

So this is a real accomplishment for someone like me who doesn’t read much! Granted, it isn’t a very thick book, about 245 pages in total at a font size of probably 11 or 12 which was really easy on the eyes for me truthfully speaking. I guess it was this, and the fact that I was so curious to learn about the life of this actor Kunal Nayyar, and that there were pages that really made me laugh (I can hardly imagine how reading words could make me laugh and have fun as much as I do watching a tv comedy series) that helped me along and motivated me to finish the book so quickly!

And I suppose having free access to a wonderful library with a wide collection and variety of books also made me want to keep borrowing books and takr advantage of the free reading! I guess I was also hoping that doing all this reading would not only help me be a better writer but would also exercise my “reading muscles” and help me absorb information better. Borrowed this book about a 5 days ago and it took me about 4 hours to finish it after starting off on about 3 chapters two days ago!

If you’re a fan of the TV series Big Bang Theory, you’re gonna want to read this book, “Yes, my accent is real” which is also a very interesting book title that caught my attention really! Talks a lot about his life before landing the Raj Koothrappali role and about his Indian ethnicity. Very interesting take about culture from his point of view, and I especially enjoyed stories he told about his Father. What a great dad he has ☺

Farewell Surprise for Gay. #SpiritualFamily #CityHarmony #ENACConnectGroup

It’s a Purple-themed farewell party! It’s because Purple is Gay’s favorite color, so the event organizers suggested that we all try to wear something in Purple. Unfortunately for me, purple is my least favorite color, so I d0n’t have anything Purple with me and I didn’t want to go all out to spend money on a shirt with a color I absolutely disliked. So I just wore a dark navy blue sweater with a cat print in hopes that it would not be too obvious that I wasn’t in Purple.

Call time to gather was at 5:15pm-5:30pm. I had to catch a ride with Abby and her husband Adi, at Joy’s apartment down at Queen St. Only to find out later in the night that they actually live in the same apartment as I did!

We got to McDonald’s Panmure around 5:50pm, and some of the other connect group people were already there setting up the place and doing decorations. Lot’s of effort put into the whole set up of the place, and all I helped with was holding the balloons up for someone while they tape the balloons up to the ceiling around the program area.

image

image

I got really hungry when I arrived, so as soon as I was done with helping, I ordered a set meal of Angus burger which had bacon (ugh), and quickly dig in. I had such a thick face though. I mean, everyone else just hung around and waited for others to arrive while I was eating there alone and digging in all the fries and burger! I didn’t want to end up cranky ya know?? So I just had to do what I gotta do! And hey, I had a second round of meal when everyone else ate later into the program :-p

The part where we had to hide and wait for Gay to arrive was very funny. Everyone was stationed behind the divider, and was waiting for Gay’s arrival together with Ate Bea and Kuya Alfred and the rest. But we kept getting postponed and everyone was anxious and hungry at the same time so there were some who were talking and restless while others kept shushing the others to keep quiet! XD Thankfully, without much spoilers and mishap, when Gay finally arrived, she was indeed pleasantly surprised as we all came out of the divider and loudly exclaimed “SURPRISE!!!”

image

For a party that lasted for 2.5 hours, from 7.30pm to 9.45pm-ish, it was pretty well organised and I wasn’t as socially awkward as I normally would feel in a party with that much of a crowd. Reason being, the party was thoughtfully planned with activities and things to do, between eating, and showing of slides presentations, there was a praying over for Gay, and there were even surprises on top of surprises! We also had a few highlighted moments honoring Ash, Jayce and Claire for their past birthdays (Even up until June!), and also prayed over Abby and Adi for their 1 year wedding anniversary, so it was a good celebration!

image

After all the honoring of people around with special days, Wrechele organized a little game for Gay, since Gay was always the game master for all the bonding moments of the group. It was a game of Charades where Gay needs to guess the name of a person or a fictional character based on a list of names given to the other guests there who gets to pull a name out from the list randomly. I actually got quite a hard one, “Ninja Turtle” and had to act out the “ninja” moves and Gay took a while to also guess the “Turtle” part :-p

image

image

One thing memorable about the party though, was this small moment where I was on my way to the counter to order my second meal for the night, when a Maori woman with two young toddlers reached out to me and asked for a favor to lend her my phone to make a call out. Said her phone had died and didn’t have any battery left and she had missed the bus so needed to call someone to come pick her up. At first I was rather hesitant, me being me, not very trusting of strangers and all, but she really looked like she needed help and I thought in my head, Lord, if anything happens, I leave it into Your hands. So I lent her the phone, unsure if I still had load as well cos I remember the last time I checked my phone, there was less than 4 dollars balance. She asked me to dial the number and I appreciated that she did ask me to make the call instead, and then when it started ringing then I passed the phone to her. I listened as she spoke Maori to the call receiver, who sounded very irritated though, but hey I could be wrong, but she didn’t take her time on the call and just within a minute was done with it. She thanked me as I continued on to the counter to order my food. As I returned to the party, I asked her if she had someone to pick her up already, she gently said yes, and I was glad that she was gonna be okay.

Another thing that made the time at the party easier to bear with and made it seemed like time was passing by fast is because we even had a dance session! It was kinda funny to see a party where people can enjoy themselves, act silly and it was pure fun and wholesome kind of fun, even without getting drunk with booze! Thank You Lord that Christians aren’t just boring people, some of them can be so goofy too like Mr Kim! He really is a funny guy that one, making us all laugh especially during the charades game.

Around 9.30pm, we started packing up and prepared to leave the venue, we all said our farewell messages and greetings verbally to Gay, and I told her how I felt disappointed that she had to leave soon and that we didn’t get to spend a longer time together to get to know each other more. I also told her how I am very inspired with her ministry especially her efforts in Project Baon which I then told her I will continually pray for her in that regard, very short and brief message, hug, hug.

image

image

10.00pm, party is over! I was surprised at myself though of how much I enjoyed myself at the party and had been a while since I laughed so hard especially when Jayce used “Kili Power” moves and actions to demonstrate the “Power Rangers” character in the charades game! I mean, getting out of the house today was hard as I was even thinking to myself, how I wish I could just stay home and enjoy the fact that my flatmate is away for the long weekend and I’d have the flat all to myself! But thank You Lord, that it turned out better than I expected 🙂

MYOB Field Trip! #studentlife

My tutors are absolutely the coolest and dopest tutors ever! They really care about us doing well in college and making sure we get exposure in our field of study. Thank You Lord for wonderful tutors like Amy & EP!

Instead of having our regular Accounting Software class today at 2pm, we get to go out of school and have a tour of one of the biggest Accounting Software companies there is here in NZ, MYOB.

image

Groufie in the bus ride on the way to MYOB office with my seat mate and classmate from Ukraine, Sergii and classmates from India, Udham and Arun behind us.

image

The MYOB office is up at Mt Eden, just about 10 minutes away from the city center. The bus charter was paid for by the school and the MYOB office is just so cool! The tour guide, who is also the marketing officer for MYOB said that the main theme of the office is based on the 4 seasons, Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer because of how in Auckland, you can get four seasons in a day. Cool theme! But best of all, the office has a lounge and entertainment area just next to the very big pantry/kitchen area with foosball table! It’s just so nice and comfy!

image

Unfortunately, the marketing guy said that it is quite unlikely that MYOB would hire junior accountants like us, especially when they create accounting software, they are more likely to hire IT people to develop their software and maintain them.

There were other speakers who talked to the group of about 20 of us, but most of the time about what their products are and how big the company is and how they operate. Our tutors were trying really hard to get some kind of partnership going with the school and MYOB to help with the students in terms of internship and industry exposure. Anyhow, my nose got all irritated and I wasn’t sure why, but it started to get all runny and congested so I couldn’t enjoy half way through the programme. I hate it when that happens.

image

image

We left the MYOB office at about 4:00pm and by the time we got settled back at college what with the messy classroom assignment and confusion and all, we only started our next lesson at 5pm.

It was certainly a nice exposure to see the MYOB office, although I was quite distracted by the marketing guy’s overuse of the word “as such” and “in terms of”. But it was all good aside from my agitated and congested nose. It’s always a good thing to be able to get away from sitting in a classroom and just listening to one person talk for hours!

image

Best of all, we got goodie bags! Some notepad, pens, keychain and highlight marker. Anything given for free is a good thing! 🙌

Diwali Festival.

So this was how I spent my 2-monthsary here in Auckland! A two day event on Saturday and Sunday, all day, organized by the Auckland City Council.

I didn’t expect myself to be a part of such a big event, and even though half of me was glad that all the practices and drama is all over, I was also kind of glad I got to participate in the event too.

image

The dance team gathered at about 3pm on Saturday at the Victoria Women’s Gym for a last minute huddle and briefing. Then by 4:30pm, we went off to the site at the Event center just beside the City Hall and Events Cinema. There was a huge crowd and I was expecting lots of Indians to be there but surprisingly there were other Kiwis and non-Indian nationals there just chilling and hanging around. My college had a booth set up to promote the school and this was apparently the first time NTEC has sponsored any event as big as this.

image

image

image

Initially this dance was planned as a flash mob surprise, but to OUR SURPRISE, it didn’t end up to be an authentic flash mob. I mean, duh~ we were all wearing very bright Red and Blue colored shirts promoting the college so obviously everyone would know something was going on. So it ended up with the host announcing over the loudspeaker that we had a special performance for the crowd.

So anyway, we performed at Queen Street itself, on the road and not on stage, and it ended up looking like we had some sort of street dance party going on which is cool anyway. Our song mix was about 7 minutes long, and it was nice to see the crowd was pretty supportive and responded well to the dance. Here’s the link to the youtube vid.

image

After the dance ended around 5:45pm, I was ready to go home already and didn’t want to hang around cos I didn’t bring any money with me at all. Then suddenly D came around the group of Pinays I was with and said to all of us to meet up at the gym after this. And all the while in my head I was thinking, ok, this is a debriefing and to talk about whats gonna happen for tomorrow’s dance and all. Little did I know, it was actually more than that.

I hung around Ate A and Yeng for the rest of the evening eating Dunkin’ Donuts and just chit chatting with them before we arrived at the gym. It was then I found out that we were asked to dance on stage later that Saturday night around 8:50pm. But because of safety regulations for the stage, we were only limited to 25 people to dance. So there were others that were not there but the dance organizers didn’t mention anything during that time at the gym so I thought everything was good and that those people who weren’t gonna dance on stage knew whats going on. Oh the drama that ensued ….

The performance went well, and I guess we were all hyped and excited because the presence on stage just gets your adrenaline pumping and you just absorb all that crowd cheering and it really felt good! Until we got off the stage of course. Ate A got a miss call from S and then there it was, people arguing and criticizing what happened to the others who were not on stage and why they weren’t informed. Oh my…

Poor Ate A was stuck in the middle of it all, and the night ended with R and D trying to explain and calm everyone down. I felt bad too for not calling R about it cos I thought they knew and didn’t realize it was such a big deal. I got home and called her, and she said she was upset because they felt insulted when people in the crowd was questioning why they weren’t on stage and when they thought they missed out and actually went to the stage, they were even pushed away by the dance organizers! I apologized for not being a good friend, and we just ended the call in that note.

The next day when the team gathered in the gym before the second performance, the drama continued. People were raising their voices, they were arguing and fighting, and it was not a good sight. After all, this festival was all about them, and this display of disunity was not good at all. The Pinays got really tired of it and even spoke up and tried to tell them to chill and stop arguing. I was just quiet most of the times cos I was in no place to comment, and plus, the dramas started even from the beginning of the dance practices with choreography disagreements and all,  I mean, how could I expected less of a drama? 🙄

But it was all good, at the end of it, everyone maintained civil and professionalism, proceeded with the performance and all was well. Photos and smiles everywhere. What an unforgettable experience, and wow the drama! It’s like watching a live TV Series or reality show of “So You Think You Can Dance?” but with way more angst!

It is Well – Bethel Music feat. Kristene Dimarco

Grander earth has quaked before
Moved by the sound of His voice
Seas that are shaken and stirred
Can be calmed and broken for my regard

Chorus
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
And it is well with me

Verse 2
Far be it from me to not believe
Even when my eyes can’t see
And this mountain that’s in front of me
Will be thrown into the midst of the sea

Chorus
Through it all, through it all
My eyes are on You
Through it all, through it all
It is well

So let go my soul and trust in Him
The waves and wind still know His name

It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul
It is well with my soul

Heard this song from Spotify the other day and it instantly became one of my favorite worship songs. Not just because of the melody but because the lyrics resonate so much of what I cannot express from my heart and my mouth. It’s exactly how I feel deep down and so desperately need to let out.

This morning Spotify notified me that the Praise & Worship playlist had added 50 tracks into it. So I listened to it, and its only been a few days or at least just a week since I last heard this song, but listening to it again this morning, just into the second line of the lyrics I started tearing up! Maybe its because I relate to it so much, or its just the Holy Spirit assuring me again of how awesome and how great God the Father is, and that feeling just overwhelmed me.

Its such an encouraging song, more like a song that talks to myself, that tells myself: “Hey, remember that God is powerful, all able, and He loves you, don’t ever let the devil deceive you into thinking otherwise!” The lyrics “So let go, my soul and trust in Him, the waves of wind still know His name” just does it for me. I’m talking to my soul, telling my inner being, deep down inside me, to just let go, and let God handle the situations that I cannot control. Definitely not something easy for me to do being such a control freak sometimes . But its the truth, it cannot be explained, it is faith, is it HOPE. Jesus is my Hope. I have to remember that, and this song helps me do just that. 🙂

Omelette Muffins 🐣 #homeBaking

Today I was in the mood to try something new. Even if it meant I’d have to go through all that hassle and effort of cooking.

I prepared smart, I bought all the ingredients yesterday and only made the muffins today since I didn’t want to just tire myself from all that grocery shopping and dragging grocery bags home.

I have to give credit to this site, Tip Hero that gave me the inspiration to try this out. I actually saw that link from Facebook shared by one of my friends, Joyce. So as much as FB can be a pain in the butt, sometimes we can get pretty useful things from it too.

So I’m not gonna go into too much detail on all the ingredients and measurements cos I just got that all from the source website. I’m just gonna go ahead and flood the screen with photos of my little cooking/baking adventure.

image

Look at all that chopping I had to do!!! Onions, raw Ham, eggplants. Grrrr… I’m thinking to find more ready made/cooked ingredients for my next attempt on this recipe.

image

After all that chopping and slicing, I still had to quickly stir fry and cook the ham and eggplants cos they can’t be baked and cooked within 20 minutes in the oven anyway.

image

Look ma! I’m actually cooking!

image

The stir fry and cooking was hard work aside from chopping because I realized that the cooking takes at least 10-15 minutes for the eggplants to soften and arrive at a desired texture. After cooking the muffin stuffing, (hey that rhymed!) It was time to prepare the batter. 4 eggs, mixed with baking powder, milk, oil, then salt and pepper to taste. Easy right?

image

And all that egg mix comes up to about 350 ml. Which I calculated at the end, could make up to 10 muffins. So I had to do a second batch of course.

image

Bought Canola cooking spray! Lovin’ this product! And sprayed onto my $4.00 worth of 6-pax muffin tray.

image

Next the stuffing! Can you see the bits and cubes of eggplant, with a bit of diced tomatoes and ham?

image

Topped that with Mozzarella cheese just because I like my cheese chewy and stretchy like Pizza~ then our the egg mixture over them!

image

I’m usually very bad at using ovens because I can’t tell how hot it should be, cos it should be adjustable according to your batter mixture. So I just went ahead with the instructions from the website and put it to “High” on the dial. I think that was at least 300 degree. And baked it for 25 minutes just to be sure.

image

Look at them babies in the oven! The reflection is too clear that you can’t really make the raising muffins out but you can tell how excited I was about them that I just had to get a photo!

image

Aaaand they’re out!! Slightly burnt I would say cos the color is a bit too brown, but I tried them and they tasted fine and not at all burnt or charcoal.

image

Woohoooo!!!

image

and now, a few selfies with my omelette muffins!

image

If you had noticed the tray behind me, two of the muffins are missing. One of them on the plate I’m holding. The other obviously got into my stomach before I managed to take a photo with it.

image

mmmmmm…. my precious~~~!!!!!

image

image

Look at how awesome this photo is, I deliberately forked out a bit of the muffin so the photo captures the stuffing inside.. oooohhh….

I must say, it does taste better with ketchup though, and I didn’t have enough ketchup with me, which means I need to grab a bottle from the dairy. Urgh.

But yay to success! It only took me about.. what, 3 hours??? Yes, it was a LOT of work and not to mention TIME taken to produce just 6 little muffins. However, I was just reminded in Colossians 3:17 that whatever I do (even as mundane as house chores, or cooking and baking for that matter!), I should do it in the name of Jesus, and give thanks to God for providing me with the ability to have food on the table, capable hands, sight and especially taste buds to create a meal!

And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. – Colossians 3:17 (NIV)

So no complaints here, just thankful to have my stomachs filled and still honor God with the simple daily tasks in life!

Trying to have green fingers. #gardening #planting #newHobby

I’ll be honest, growing up I never liked gardening. I hated even stepping on grass cos I was worried I might step on some dog poop or something. It just felt weird for me stepping on squishy soil. And with my mom being such a garden enthusiast, I normally take activities like that for granted.

Until recently, I realized how beneficial it is to grow my own vegetables, seeing how prices of vegetables in the supermarket are soaring high. It’s becoming farce! So I decided to give it a go.

Two weeks ago when Audrey Chin took me around, I got myself a starter plant, which my sister suggested. She’s quick to become a gardening pro as well, and I guess I got much of the inspiration and motivation from her too. Those plant starters are good cos it helps me to just continue the nurturing process and see them grow from their baby leaves.

This time, I decided I should start planting the seeds I bought from the dairy and from scratch.

Audrey Pang also donated some plastic plant pot to me! Oh the blessings! Thank You Lord!

She even gave me some soil that she has hanging around her garage which she doesn’t use much.

Here’s the pack of Cos Lettuce seeds from Yates brand that I bought from the dairy. I read the instructions too and it seems I have lots of things missing. I didn’t get any fertilizer like the packet suggests so I will have to make do with this for now and let’s pray it will still grow well and healthy.

Look at those tiny seeds!!

I’ve put a little plastic label on the soil to note when I started planting this lettuce too. It’s now nicely placed beside my living room window so lets hope it gets enough sunshine to help it grow. I should be able to see some sprouts in two weeks! Wish me luck!
