Music, Tech and Stage Management Ministry General Assembly. #spiritualFamily #victoryMakati #volunteer

Had lunch with B, Edson, Ina, baby Roey and kuya Obet today after 10am service! We were at Jollibee! I rarely have the chance to bond and have lunch with people from the 10am service. Mostly because I am just too shy to butt into their lives, but other times, I just think the 10am services have more family groups than singles or people like me who don’t have families around to spend time and rush to lunches with. It was great to get to spend time with these folks especially with the little time I have left here in Manila.

Right after lunch, we all headed back to the AIM Center to attend another Ministry event which I actually wasn’t aware that it was a combined ministry program. It was good cos we get to also see who are the other people in the Music Ministry, especially the newbies. I haven’t met any of the newbies in fact, but this program wasn’t really the place to get to know people in your own ministry.

The program started off with Pastor Julius giving us a short message and encouragement from 1 Samuel 16:14-23 about how David first entered King Saul’s courts as the Lyre player and played the instrument to calm the King’s soul. Pastor Julius emphasized that the King did not search for a Priest to calm his soul, but just a simple boy who could play an instrument! It was how we as simple as we are, called to be volunteers, called to serve others in our skills and talents and we all work together to provide a worship service that helps to minister to the congregation and that its a group effort and not just a responsible to be held by those in the music ministry.

14 Now the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a harmful spirit from the Lord tormented him.15 And Saul’s servants said to him, “Behold now, a harmful spirit from God is tormenting you. 16 Let our lord now command your servants who are before you to seek out a man who is skillful in playing the lyre, and when the harmful spirit from God is upon you, he will play it, and you will be well.” 17 So Saul said to his servants, “Provide for me a man who can play well and bring him to me.” 18 One of the young men answered, “Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a man of good presence, and the Lord is with him.”19 Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse and said, “Send me David your son, who is with the sheep.”20 And Jesse took a donkey laden with bread and a skin of wine and a young goat and sent them by David his son to Saul. 21 And David came to Saul and entered his service. And Saul loved him greatly, and he became his armor-bearer. 22 And Saul sent to Jesse, saying, “Let David remain in my service, for he has found favor in my sight.” 23 And whenever the harmful spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the lyre and played it with his hand. So Saul was refreshed and was well, and the harmful spirit departed from him.

imageAfter Pastor’s message, we had a short time of games and ice breakers, one of the games we played was to guess which answer the three panels at the front was giving the right one. The ones who chose the wrong answers will have to leave the center game area and the winners will be left. I was out from the first question :-p The question was “why does Victory Makati holds its Communion services on the second Sunday of the month”. It was a good question which I really never thought of asking. Who knew? It was just a simple answer, just because second Sundays of the month usually doesn’t have much videos or updates to announce. Huh.

After the games, each ministry had a representative to come up and give an overview of what the ministry is called to do, and what are the updates for each ministry. Then on to another game where we were suppose to mingle and interact with the other ministry people. We were given some criteria and the first group of people that could successfully complete the team members with the requirements would win that round. I couldn’t manage to get a few of the people because there was only very limited worship leaders or people of a certain age group that I knew. Mostly I was just not “game” to play games. Hehehehe.
