She’s the One.

20131031-221907.jpg

I do find Bea Alonzo very sweet and pretty but I don’t think Ding Dong and her make good couples on the screen. The chemistry is just off and weird. I didn’t really like how the movie started off, but when Enrique Gil came into the screen, its like “aaaawww he’s soooo sweeeeet” moments all over!

How ironic it was that the Enrique character and Bea character were 8 years apart. I couldn’t help thinking why it had to be 8 years and not 10?

Anyway, my personal rating for this would be 2.5 over 5 stars. They could’ve perhaps casted someone else instead of Ding Dong though.

Newbies at House of Wagyu Stone Grill! With @mxacol

20131031-174828.jpg

I was craving Steak, meat, like manly meat. And since Mikhail and I were not very familiar with Eastwood area, we decided to trust on the “Click the City” app to look for good steak around the area. Two names of restaurants came up, and it was either House of Wagyu, or.. (I can’t recall the name at this point)..

Anyway, we figured we’ll go for House of Wagyu, and Mikhail was looking for their menu outside the restaurant but there wasn’t any menu on display, so we just barged in the restaurant, it was still quite early around 5.30pm and we were hungry so after taking our seats and flipping the menu, I felt like I wanted to just leave the restaurant!! It was actually a fine dining restaurant where Tenderloins costs more than 4K pesos!!! But we didn’t leave since we were slightly embarrassed, and perhaps a bit of pride too, when the waitress actually gave us some kind of look when we came in the restaurant as if we couldn’t afford it.

So we stayed, and ordered something that had 35% discount (according to the banner outside the restaurant) and I even confirmed it with the Waitress when we took our order. But oh the steak was just superb. It was stone grilled, they serve the raw but seasoned meat on top of a really hot stone, and we cook it ourselves up to the desired texture, whether medium rare or well done! It was really cool! First time for both of us and a very exciting experience indeed.

When we got the bill, I was surprised that it cost us 3,800 pesos because I was expecting a little bit less than that. Only to find out that although we ordered a grade 6 tenderloin with 35% discount, we were served a grade 8 tenderloin with the discount. I was disappointed that the customer service was lousy, and that we should be told what they were serving us before they let the customers touch the food!

Oh well, it was worth the money anyway, even though it was still kind of pricey. Lesson learned. Always check menu price first!

Mikhail’s version of how it went down is here.

Happy Halloween!

20131031-173949.jpg

With Human Statues at Eastwood Mall! And a large Pumpkin behind us.

Last year I spent Halloween with a bunch of “then” pretty new colleagues and workmates at the NBC Tent of Horror. This year, Mikhail decided to take me to Eastwood mall to stroll around and then watch a late night movie.

The place is pretty cool, lots of places open 24/7 because apparently this was the birth place of BPO industry in the Philippines, according to the writings on this statue.

Lots of people were out cos of the Halloween celebrations and they even placed some zombies (they’re fake of course) with tip boxes! People were crowding around them to get photos.

Took a panoramic shot of the area too. It was beautiful.

Too bad this place is rather far from my more familiar places. It did remind me of Makati too with all the tall buildings surrounding the area. We parked from one building and changed to another cos the cinemas were in two different places. I wouldn’t mind coming here again I suppose but only if I get another long weekend like this. Quite far out and worse, the traffic going there from Makati is sooooo baaaaaad! Took us an hour and a half on the road. 😦

Gino went to Beijing for a vacation with his family for a week. And got us nicely decorated pens with ancient Chinese writing motif. So thoughtful of him ^_^
