I have the best nieces in the world

How often do you get a nice little surprise from your adorable 11-year old niece?

Dear YiYi,
This is Danica representing my whole family. If you are seeing this, we just wanna tell you that we will miss you lots n lots! Let the Lord be with you and guide you in the Phils until you come back and visit us again. We bless you with a safe plane ride there and hope you will arrive there safely. We had fun with you for a few days, hoping next time you come visit you will stay longer. So Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! God bless you and we love always and forever! 🙂

I only saw the note in my phone after coming back to Makati from a short vacation back home. It was heartwarming!

Thank you Danica for your sweet gesture, Yiyi loves all of you girls and miss you girls soooooo much!

The birthday I will never forget.

Life is too short. I always say that and I am a firm believer of that saying. But it has never been as real to me as it has today.

Today I celebrated my 30th birthday. A milestone in life and I always thought this was going to be JUST another birthday cos I didn’t want to make a big deal about it. But God has other plans for me.

Today is the day that the Lord has made, because it is the day He created me and so I will rejoice and be glad in it. Unfortunately, it is also the day I will never forget my dearly beloved cousin Terry has passed away so suddenly. And I know it wasn’t a coincidence. God knew it was going to happen today.

He wasn’t just my cousin, he was my dear friend, the twin brother I always knew in my heart I had, and even if we don’t meet each other often, we always had good times, fun talks and enjoyed each other’s company whenever we meet again. Growing up together, my mom told me my nickname ‘papam’ originated from him. And it stuck with me up to this day.

He was a good man, gentle spirit and kind hearted. Loved his family and surely a responsible man. He served the community with his after office duties and we called him our Hero.

I have been praying for him throughout this year. He was in my list of friends and families I wanted God to transform their life and bring salvation to them, make them a believer. I always prayed for protection for him being far away from home and to keep him away from any false beliefs. The last we chatted I told him to be sure to marry a Christian girl.

Just last week my mom told me he was going to be back home for Christmas, apparently planning on getting engaged to a nice simple girl from the province. I was so happy when I heard that news and I even thought of how we would talk about that again when we get the time to chat again. Unknowingly, God had other plans.

This morning he sent me a birthday wish that I never got to reply… I love you Terry.. May you rest in peace.. 😥

A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth.
