GWI Annual Dinner 2011

So here’s the post about how my Company’s annual dinner went.

It was a Greek Mythology Themed Night, and so, I dress to the occasion.. and there I met a few familiar figures,

like the Poseidon, the God of the Sea,

Hercules,

Xena the Warrior Princess,

and Cyclops!!

Apparently The Cyclops just crashed the party so he could take pictures with gorgeous goddesses that night. No no, I’m not the Goddess, I was merely a poor peasant trying to catch a glimpse of royalty.. eh?

There were actually other figures that I wanted to take a photo with, like Cupid, Medusa, and even the Goddess of Fire, but everyone was all over the place! It was just too hard to catch people at the right moment to take photos..

I must say it was quite a well planned event, and better than the year before!  Inside the hall, it was quite a view..

And our table ..

With such a big event like this, its almost impossible to get the department to gather at one spot and take a photo of everyone. I wish I at least tried to when they were all sitting down at the table already. But then again, I’d be distracting others that are concentrating on watching the shows on stage… Out of all the pictures I took, I could only pick 2 which I think I look best in, heheheehe..

This was a nice pose which was able to display my entire outfit for the night..

And I liked this photo below cos it showed my fake lashes so nicely.. *flutters eyelashes..

No Event would be considered successful if the food didn’t blow people’s taste buds away.. So I made sure I took a shot of the food served before anyone laid their hands on it!

This dish was really mind-boggling. Why would a huge hotel, with such a grand event, serve this?? What were they thinking??

This one was also lousy. Siomai? Seriously, I wonder what went through their minds when they planned to have this in the menu. Oh, we’re gonna miss Siomai with all that glorious food?

Desserts!

In between dishes, of course there were performances and stuff. Last year it was Body Art. And this year, we had pole dancers!

Soooo Graaaaand~~~!!!

And then we also had Vegas-themed dancers and performers… half ladies and half gentlemen’s suit..

Really grand and loud costumes.. peacocks and all..

Despite all that awesomeness, this next program was a very memorable one for me. I didn’t think so much about it when my supervisor told me, “there’s gonna be a surprise tonight”.. I just thought like, oh ok, surprise performances? Yea of course, like the shows that were so grand! But I didn’t realise it was actually a surprise for me, personally.

I was awarded with my department’s most outstanding employee for last year 2010, and I was beyond words.. the moment my name was called, I felt an enormous amount of pressure over my shoulders and felt like I really don’t deserve it no matter how much my boss says I do, I feel that my supervisors are much more deserving than I was.. Of course, I was still very appreciative and grateful for the recognition, I just prefer something more low profile instead of having to go on stage in front of the whole company!!

But I am grateful..

And after all that commotion, it was back to work at 10:30PM.. I didn’t get to party all night like the rest of the colleagues did but I didn’t miss the party at all, because I won one of the raffles!!! hehehehe.. the first time in 3 years of participating in the company’s annual dinners..

I even won the early bird raffle.. hehehehe!! I’m so blessed!!

Looky at my raffle win.. a Nokia C3.. But I sold it off already for 5K worth cos I had something else in mind 😉

(Notice the shop I was in? There were others who won the Louis Voutton Gift Vouchers worth 50k… ISN’T IT AWESOME OR WUTT~~)

Well, for the rest of those in the department that didn’t win any raffles, they got a second chance at a “mini” raffle back in the office..

My boss was Super generous, and she personally got some items from Taiwan for the staffs to raffle it off again..

Some MP3 players and a “imitation” IPOD .. still cool though!

And more blessings for me, I also got cash rewards for excellent attendance!!

Looks like 2011 isn’t such a bad start after all … =)

Little Fockers

So its my day off today, I decided to go watch a movie, and the first movie for the year 2011. “Little Fockers”.

My entry ticket to the cinema..

I was surprised to find that Jessica Alba was actually in this movie! Hehehehe..  she’s still hot though despite already had a child..

So my review for this? 3 Stars lah.. it wasn’t like a SUPER funny movie, but it was just good for laughs.. I had tears even at some points! Not much of course.. just ‘touched’.. hehehe

Before I went for the movie, I tried out a place which I accidentally came across while shopping with colleagues the other day. This place was called the “TOAST BOX”. More like a small cafe and not much of a resto.

These were the only shots I manage to get of the place cos I didn’t wanna get noticed by them and embarrassing me if they asked me not to take photos of their cafe.

The display and everything was very attractive though. The best part is, they serve Malaysian delights!!

Well, soft boiled eggs with kaya toast, and nasi lemak, hainanese chicken rice, even laksa! Best thing is, this is probably the only place I can get MILO DINOSOUR in Manila!!!

P1000887

Thumbs up for the MILO yo.. it was soooooo sweeett!!! Just the way I like it ~

But what was totally disappointing was the nasi lemak.

P1000888

Not only were they such a frugal with the sambal, it didn’t even come with anchovies and peanuts!! The cafe manager came up to me after they finished serving my meals and asked if it was alright, I did brought up the fact that they didn’t have anchovies on my nasi lemak like how they were displaying it. But good recovery, she did apologized that her staff did not inform me they ran out of anchovies.. so yea, I’m going back there on my next day off to try the hainanese chicken rice and soft boil eggs.

I had to cook today. And I wouldn’t say I FAILED my dishes but lets just say it could’ve been better. I forgot to put salt in the boiling water when I was cooking the broccoli and the fish almost burned.. but good thing the fish still tasted fine..

I am a real lousy cook cos am very inefficient in the kitchen, and I started cooking at 6pm, only managed to eat at 15 mins past 8pm. Then by the time I finished cleaning up and all, it was already 9:30 and waaaay past my bed time!! I still wanted to blog cos otherwise I prolly wouldn’t be writing here in another month!! I still haven’t even talked about the company annual dinner!

Ohh how I hate the process of cooking.. I wonder if I could hire someone to cook for me?

New Year?

Let’s just say, I’m just not that excited about this new year at all…

Firstly, I am reminded that I am hitting the big three-o (30) much too soon, and I have yet to accomplish my hopes and dreams and you can even say that I don’t know where I am heading to in this life’s journey.

Although, I am somehow inspired, after my short vacation in Indo with my bro and his family, that this year 2011, my theme will be “living healthily”.

Thus, I have started to watch what I eat, and plan to eat right, watch my weight (I’d rather not call it “being-on-a-diet”), and of course, start to really take care of myself. I look at my pictures from just last year 2010, and I realised how much OLDER i look after just 1 year.

And yes, both pictures were taken during my company’s annual dinner this year compared with last year’s. I do love my make up done last year.. it was way better compared to the make up done this year!!! >.<

So part of the plan to be more healthy this year, I was suppose to do more exercise and work out. And look where I am now??!!! In front of the frickin lappy, letting my flabby abs happily tucked into layers and hibernating.. ugh… I am so procrastinating with the excuse that I don’t normally get the chance to leave the office on time.. =.=

I also plan to start taking supplements, such as Grapeseed and Primrose Oil..etc etc.. mostly recommended by my colleagues that are also concern with aging.. I need to also take care of my eyebags and dark circles!! It seems to get worse by the month! I think I do keep my sleeping hours in check, just that I tend to rub my eyes too vigorously and I DON’T KNOW HOW TO STOP IT!! And I seem to see heridity happening here… my mom has dark spots under her eyes too!! ngaaaahhhhh!!!!!

And I was suppose to start eating only vegetables, and cutting back on sugar, and I just had litres of coke and chocolate sundae from McDonald’s last night!!!! OMG~~ How do I go through this year??!!!

Thats why I wasn’t looking forward to this coming year.. it just doesn’t feel right..

Although, I must admit it was a good annual dinner this time, more about that in the next post!

Till then, I really need to first put a “check” on my “Discipline” on this year’s resolution!!!

Falling Slowly – The Frames

I don’t know you but I want you
All the more for that
Words fall through me and always fool me
And I can’t react

You have suffered enough and what with yourself
It’s time that you won

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time, raise your hopeful voice
You had the choice, you’ve made it now

Falling slowly, eyes that know me
And I can’t go back
Moods that take me and erase me
And I’ll paint it black

Games that never amount
To more than themselves
Will play themselves out

Take this sinking boat and point it home
We’ve still got time, raise your hopeful voice
You had the choice, you’ve made it now
